Changes to Saturday morning sessions

Newport Velo Youth Cycling Club have had a number of enquiries about the Saturday morning Youth sessions held at Geraint Thomas International Velodrome in Newport.  These sessions are hosted by Newport Youth Cycling Club on behalf of Newport Live.  (The club names are very similar but they are separate clubs.)
Only members of Newport Youth Cycling Club are able to ride the SQT session (9am roller warm up then 9.30 to 10.30 on the track).  There is a later Open Drop In Novice/Improver session from 10.30 to 12.00 and there is no requirement to be a Club member for that session but riders must have completed Newport Live’s beginner course (currently held on Monday evenings).
The SQT session requires a good level of fitness and track skill and so acceptance of a rider on to that session is at the discretion of the coaches, however, as a guide it is necessary for a rider to be capable of maintaining a steady pace on the blue line for a full hour and to be able to do changes/stacking/weaving etc.  The session is limited to 20 riders so pre-booking is recommended.
Membership costs £10.00 and can be taken out using the British Cycling website (which incurs a £1 admin fee) or can be done at a session.  Either way, completion of a membership form is required, these are available at the sessions.
Please note there will be no session on 16th November as there is an event on at the Velodrome.
Please contact Newport Youth Cycling Club (on if you have any further questions.
