Extra Session Sunday 6th Jan

The Club has booked the Velodrome Track from 8am to 10am on Sunday 6th January 2019 as an extra coaching session aimed at those who have entered the Icebreaker Series (especially those who have not previously raced).  Races at the Series will be Scratch, Elimination and Points.
For those that can stay on 10am to 10.30am we will talk through the licence, bike check, sign-on and rider briefing processes and how the event day works so that riders know what to expect on the day.
Cost of Session – £12.00.
For riders who have done Madison training sessions previously, we will include a mock Madison race (while other riders have a break) so that you have a chance to prepare for Madison night at the end of Spring Track League.  Please note that we will need at least six riders to do this, so if you are interested in this then please encourage your friends to come along.

Podium Support for National Youth & Junior Track Championships

Next week the National Youth and Junior Track Championships are being held at Wales National Velodrome in Newport. Spectators are welcome at all sessions (see below).

We have also been asked to provide members to assist with the medal presentations (mainly walking forward with the medals, flowers and National Jerseys that are to be presented on the podium). We have been asked to do Wednesday (25th) for 6 presentation ceremonies between 2.30 pm and 5.30 pm. If you are interested in doing this then please reply to newportveloycc@gmail.com. If you are not able to stay for the full time then please let us know what time you could do. You do need to wear full club kit for the ceremony but if you do not yet have the kit then we can provide some.

Please let us know if you have any queries on this.

Road Coaching Opportunity

As part of the Level 2 coaching course I’m currently doing, I need to deliver a series of 6 sessions, for this I’m looking to run 6 road based sessions working on key skills and techniques that can be applied to both general cycling and racing.

I have asked a few riders if they would come along to the sessions but I need a few more riders.

The first session will be on Saturday 9th June at approximately 1215 for an hour, riders will need to bring a road bike, helmet and suitable clothing for the weather conditions for all 6 sessions.

Could any interested riders please let me know that they would like to take part via email (aaron.booth1997@me.com) so that I can send them a consent form to fill in along with some additional information.
